A BIG ol’ update…

April 30th, 2008

Yoooooooooooo!,

So i haven’t really been making posts lately as you can see. I’ll credit 30% of that to my own laziness (or busy-ness?) and the other 70% to me not having a camera yet on this tour. See.. I ordered this sweet digital camera online like 5 days before I left for tour, but sure enough it didn’t arrive at my house until the day after I left. ha! Hopefully i’ll nab it when we get closer to home this weekend. But.. enough about that!

On to tour!

Everything is going great. I mean, come on..Thrice and Pelican? Does it really get any better than that? Thrice plays for an hour and a half which is awesome. They play a different set every night too, so if you’re a Thrice fan you should be pretty stoked on this. Circa has also been messing around with different sets everynight as well as playing a song from On Letting Go that you might have not heard live previously… I won’t tell ya though, you’ll have to come to the show and see it for yourself.

Oh, in case i forget to tell you .. BUY A TICKET to these shows as far ahead of time as possible, it seems most of these shows have been selling out and it would be a shame if you had to miss it!

So besides the shows what have we been doing… hmmm

-Nick and I have been eating as much Chipotle as we can get our hands on, while the rest of the band/crew have been drinking way too much Kombucha tea.

-On one of our days off we went and saw Van Halen with David Lee Roth on vocals! 5th row!! It was pretty insane.

-Had a few outdoors shows so far on this tour (Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, TX and Jannus Landing in St. Petes, FL) which is different and a nice change to get some fresh air, and by fresh air I mean BBQ smell at Stubbs and sewer smell at Jannus.

-We’ve all been trying to eat really healthy, but can’t seem to get away from all the cake people have been bringing us. haha.

- We’ve added yet another ginger to the crew. (Our sound guy Chris is our other ginger) His name is Evan (aka Ginger 5K). You’ll see him helping out and sound checking guitars on stage before Circa goes on, be sure yell “Ginger 5000!” at him when he comes out.

- and as always, we’ve been watching lots of The Office, Tim and Eric Awesome Show and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Oh! I wanted to mention this, we’re selling both CD’s (Juturna and On Letting Go) for only $5 or 6 bucks a piece on this tour! So by now you don’t have a physical copy, here’s your chance! Why so cheap? We keep it real son!

So with no camera, i’ve been forced to use my iphone to take pics. here are some :

two really cool views of the desert as we were driving through New Mexico to get to the first shows in San Diego.

No idea. Found this in Texas obviously.

Brenden in Dallas.

View from the stage in Dallas.

Check that out! At The Palladium the venue has this guy make paintings of the tour posters that come through and have everybody sign it. There is ours from the headliner last fall.

So yeah, hopefully more updates soon! Bamboozle is right around the corner, hopefully i’ll see some of you there!!

See you at the shows!

Its that time again…

April 6th, 2008

So its been “officially” spring for a couple weeks now. Officially. But i think today was the first real Spring day outside where I live (way north upstate NY). Sometimes it feels like we have more Winter then any other season up here and its really easy to forget what its like to be outside for more than the normal 30 second walk to the car.

Last June, the old lady and a homie of mine moved into this great little farm house in the middle of the country. Nothing beats being in the middle of nowhere when its sunny out. I found myself just sitting outside with my dog doing nothing for about 90% of the day. What a great feeling to finally be out of the house, away from a computer, away from a TV and being entertained soley by actual real things.

I made sure i woke up earlier than normal today to be able to take in the whole day as much as I could, because next week the insanity begins. About right now next week i’ll be on the bus on the way to San Diego to meet up with Thrice and Pelican for probably one of the best tours I’ve ever been fortunate to be a part of. Its been a long cold 5 months and I can’t wait to jump back into it again.

Stop sleeping in. See ya soon!

New Years Show!

December 13th, 2007

So its been awhile..
Whats up?

On Letting Go tour is behind us now.

By far one of the best tours i’ve ever been apart of. Thanks to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU who attended the shows and hung out.

So, when will we meet again?

You coming?!

Pomona, CA

November 10th, 2007

Wow! Its been super busy on this tour, and i’m sure you all can tell considering there hasn’t been an update in a while. Time flies out on these things, especially when you’re really busy and its hard to keep up sometimes.

Every thing is going GREAT on this tour. Right now we’re smack in the middle of 2 shows in Pomona, CA. Pomona is always good to us whenever we come through, but last nights show was probably the best i’ve seen here so far. Everybody was singing so loud that it was hard to hear vocals, which was awesome. Kids went off big time. I even got tipped a $10 pizza hut card! (SWEET!). I’m stoked to see how tonight’s show is gonna go. Hopefully i’ll see some more of you folks there.

So what has happened since the last update….
Well, our really good buddies Dear and the Headlights finished their leg of the tour. PLEASE go buy their newest record. Its great and we’re so lucky to see them as long as we did. Great band.

With the departure of Dear and the Headlights brings The Dear Hunter!! These guys just jumped on the tour about a week or so ago and they’re KILLING IT every night. If you haven’t heard their newest release then get on it, easily one of my favorite releases of the year.

I’ll have a bunch of pictures coming soon. Until then, be sure to head over to Fear Before’s tour blog at http://www.jacobthewar.com/fearbefore/ and check out some photos from the tour there.

Also, I’ve seen LOTS of Circa-based tattoos on this tour! I’m gonna post a bunch of pictures at the end of it. If you have a Circa tattoo, be sure to stop by the merch area and show me, i’ll be sure to take a picture of it and post it on here.

As always, thanks to kind people who came up and said “hi” at shows! There’s still a few weeks left, i’ll see some of you guys real soon!

PHILLY SHOW!

October 16th, 2007

Philly show at the Troc!! The venue is located smack dab in the middle of Chinatown. I spent all morning walking around by myself and getting lost in it. Philadelphia is pretty much considered a home show for Circa, and it was obvious. The show sold out shortly after doors. The place was filled with Circa friends, family and several of those traveling fans that have been coming out to the last few shows. We have 2 PA related shirts an Eagles themed shirt and one with the good ol’ state of PA on it, they were easily the best seller. We still have a bunch of merch left over from Warped Tour, so for those of you who missed out or who ran out of money.. maybe you’ll get lucky and we’ll still have that shirt kicking around.

The show looked great. If any of you folks have pictures from any of these shows please make sure to post links in comments section. Our pal Anthony DiCap took a bunch of awesome pics over the last few days, check them out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/anthonydicap.

Allentown, PA / Crocodile Rock

October 16th, 2007

Yes. PA! This show was pretty much one of the closest thing to a hometown show (second to Philly). Bunches of traveling Circa fans at the show (and many tipmeplease.com viewers, awesome!). Sadly Ours had to drop off the show due to illness, so we called our buddies in Envy on The Coast to fill the spot. It was rad seeing those guys. We spent all Spring and Summer with those dudes so it was nice to see them again after a month or so break.

This show was HOT. Kids were passing out left and right. At one point we went backstage and got all the water that the club got for us and brought it out to kids in the crowd to make sure everybody had a little bit of water in them before the setj. Be sure to keep yourselves hydrated. Especially those of you who stay up front through the entire show. It would be a bummer if you passed out and missed out on the band that you came to see. Next stop Philly!

NYC!

October 13th, 2007

Times Square. I’ve been to NYC a bazillion times, but i’ve never really made the trek to check out Times Square, so it was nice to be stuck right in the middle of it. The show tonight was at the Nokia Theatre. Easily one of the nicest clubs i’ve ever been too. We loaded in early and then the guys ran off to do press, so i went on a long walk around Times Square to kill some time. Suprisingly I couldn’t really find much to do other than walk. All I could think of was how Times Square reminded me of the internet, ads everywhere and people bugging you to buy stuff. So after that journey it was back in the club for show time. I really hope you went to this show. BY FAR one of the BEST Circa shows EVER. Every single person in the club was singing and going nuts. I’ve never seen energy like that before. Words can’t describe how incredible the show was tonight. After the show there was a really quick load out so any after show shenanigans in NYC went out the door. But Brenden ended up getting his portrait drawn by some dude on the street. A bunch of friends from Warped Tour were at the show tonight so it made for an extra good time. Another huge show in NYC.

Oh! I forgot to mention this earlier, we’re doing the raffle again! For those of you who didn’t go to Warped Tour, everyday Anthony and Colin raffle off 2 paintings to a lucky winner who purchases tickets at the merch booth. The awesome part about the paintings are they are unique to the show that you went to, they’re painted THAT DAY. So if you’re feeling lucky stop by and pick up some tickets!

Sayreville, NJ

October 13th, 2007

Whats up NJ! We’re normally at the Stone Pony when we come to Jersey and as much as i love that place its nice to go to a new venue. Besides the brutal 10min rainstorm that happend while we loaded in, tonights show went off without a hitch. There are some incredible bands on this tour. Ours for one is unbelievable. Prior to this tour i’ve only seen them play once years ago and it was one of the best shows i’d ever seen. We’re really lucky to see them every night. Make sure you catch them and pick up their free album sampler at the show. Another thing I wanted to mention was that Colin’s brother Chris (you might know him from Days Away) is on tour with us this time helping with production. We’re selling the new Days Away EP that just came out at the merch table. So be sure to pick it up!
It was rad seeing some of you NJ regulars again and meeting some new faces. Overall an awesome show.

For those of you who don’t know already The Starland Ballroom is where Circa is playing a New Years Eve show, so all you Jersey folks better be there!!
